Aim:  

To provide a sound basic knowledge and understanding of safe Drilling Well Control practises for both surface a sub sea operations. To enable candidates to fully comprehend the topics, substance, calculations required prior to attending an IWCF Drilling Well Control  Combined Supervisors certification course. Through open question and answer sessions and case histories clarify drilling terminology, operations and equipment for non-drilling personnel.

Intended For:  

OIM’s, Barge Engineers, Sub Sea Supervisors, Mud Loggers, Cementing Engineers, M.P.D. Engineers, Trainee Drilling Engineers, shore based personnel involved in operations and anyone requiring a better understanding of Well Control theory, equipment and procedures or requiring preparation for an IWCF certification course.

Shut-in procedures

Surface blowout well control equipment
Sub sea blowout well control equipment
Sub sea control systems (indirect hydraulic)
Diverting shallow gas kicks
Handling on-bottom kicks
Handling off-bottom kicks
Downhole and equipment problems during well control
Simulator Exercises

Note:  

Candidates will have homework exercise daily plus classroom exercises relating to both surface and sub sea topics. On-going assessment of a candidates performance will take place and the results forwarded to their  company. A final two part written assessment will be conducted on day five.
